Ruby's Baptism

Yesterday was a big day for our little Ruby. We started off with wrestling her to get her dressed, and it took both parents to get shoes on her. She doesn’t like shoes. Bare footed Okie is what some of her family might call her, even though she isn’t from Oklahoma. The dress she wore to church was the dress Sophie wore when she was baptized, Sophie was 14 months when she wore it and Ruby is almost 9 months. The dress is for an 18 month old. So you can see how much taller she is than Sophie was at the same age. She’s going to an Amazon when she’s older.
So we loaded up and went to church. Things went a little differently than what the girls are used to. We all went to big church. Thank goodness we did the baptism first, Sophie was ready to tear the place down, and Ruby kept trying to hang upside down. Then Pastor Todd took Ruby she looked at us with confusion, her eyes said “Why is this guy holding me, and why is he putting water on my head?” She even stuck out her bottom lip and let out a little cry. After words everyone came over to congratulated us and to tell us what a beautiful family we have. We even heard that our children were so good. Little did they know that Sophie was trying to knock over speakers, pull up all the cable that connected them, and do a stage dive off the podium. Haley was whispering to herself, saying how embarrassed she was. If we weren’t on the verge of chaos every time we left the house I don’t think we would know what to do with our selves.
Despite all the wrestling and shooshing, Ruby was baptized and we became full fledged members of the church. A pretty productive day.
